Apitherapy Experience - New for summer 2026
We are delighted to announce our Apitherapy House as an exciting addition to Nearly Home Honey & Beekeeping Experiences this summer.
Individuals and couples will be able to book an hour long experience in this hut, in order to enjoy the benefits of spending time in this unique environment; breathing in the air from the beehives, absorbing the aromas from the hive and taking in the gentle hum of the bees as they work within the hive. Time spent in this way can support overall health and wellness, as well as soothing the soul and boosting the immune and cardiovascular systems.
Our purpose-built Apitherapy House is designed to harness these benefits in a safe, enclosed environment where bees live in hives underneath the house beds. A secure mesh system keeps the bees separate and ensures that only the healing elements infuse the space, creating a truly immersive experience.
What is beehive therapy
Apitherapy is a globally recognised complementary therapy that uses the natural substances and energy of bees, such as honey, propolis, hive air and vibrations, to support health and wellness. Although honey, beeswax and propolis has long been recognised for its beneficial properties and have been utilised in many ways throughout history, more recently, beekeepers in northern European countries, where challenging climatic conditions means that honey bee colonies are kept in 'bee huts' to help them survive temperature extremes, noticed some destinct benefits that are now recognised more widely.
How beehive therapy works
The 'apitherapy house' houses several colonies of bees, which are housed within two purpose built 'bee beds'. The hives are totally self contained, with entrances exiting from underneath the bed, enabling the bees to come and go from their hive as normal.
The beds have a number of valves, which enable the air from within the hives to circulate in the house, along with any sounds from within the hives and vibrations from the movement of the bees' wings as they move around the hives.
What your experience will involve
Sessions, which last for an hour, involve sitting or lying in the Apitherapy House.
On arrival you will be greeted by us and have an opportunity to ask any questions before being shown into the house, where you will spend up to an hour relaxing and listening to the calming sounds of the bees as they work in their hives.
Upon entering the house you will be able to view a short introductory presentation, following which you will be able to sit or lie on a bed and immerse yourselves in this unique environment. A truly immersive experience awaits you.
